Is my battery box in an unsafe proximity to the fuel cock>?

by the way, why do you have what appears to be black electrical tape wrapped around the fuel petcock?

no, it's sealant... the petcock leaked a bit at the coupling when this was all on my old build. When I put the petcock back on the tank, I used this sealant stuff. There has not been fuel in the tank since last season. I do not know if this is sufficient or not. I've found (and will be buying) a new petcock...

When I put the petcock on in the first place last year, I did try to use fuel-grade teflon tape, but it would shred up every single time I went to put everything together.

I think no one likes it because it looks totally out of place.
the bike itself looks cool, but the box takes away from the cool looks of the bike.
it looks like a well built and thought out bike, and then there's this box that seems to be just thrown in the frame rails.
I would have to get a lot more creative and come up with something better if i had to have that battery on one of my bikes.
heck, check the thrift stores, they probably have all kinds of metal boxes and stuff like that.
I just think that anything would look better than the wooden box myself, but i'm more into looks than functionality.

through the magic of compooters, I bring you:

the Original Look:

Painted, no striping:

Painted, with matching Striping: (the rear fender, which is not attached, also has matching striping)

the chain guards, once painted, will also have the red striping. Haven't decided if I am going to put on the front fender or not. These are Worksman fenders, and the supports are beefy and riveted.

I guess painted is growing on me...

and yeah, my "workshop" is my computer room-- that is my computer desk on the left there...
