what spark will do

if you are loking for hoter plug keep what you have just put gap at 20 thnth/ie/.20 on normal spark gap give good hot spark I am a newbie but have benn running theses things for three years nowbuilt mine from scratch dont EVER get a bike built foer you buil;d one from scracth will help you in long run on keeping it running. your first isnt going to be PRETTY. like having your first car. its a learning process.

how do you know that someones first build isn't going to be pretty?
My first build sure is if i say so my self! I have seen a ton of others first builds that are pretty as well.
The first build may be ugly for someone who is not mechanically inclined, has no idea how an engine works, or has no eye for detail...But, not all first builds are ugly.

Oh he isn't looking for a hotter plug, he was just replacing the existing plug with a new one.
besides that, a hotter plug doesn't mean that it will create a hotter spark, to make the engine run better.
The difference between a hot plug and a cold plug is the heat range in which the plug will operate.

Thanks motor for clearing things up here! I just wanted to know a different plug to use or if I added a washer would be OK were in wouldn't harm engine.

you got wrong Idea or I did

what I was tring to say or thought I was trying to say is that you cant use a spark plug desinged for 455 olds v-8 and turn around and put it into his bike what got me was the# 8 thought wrongly that he bought a set of plugs for a car and the fact that the piston was hitting it says it wasnt the right plug for the application. ive never had that problem so thought he had gotten the wrong plugs as I havent seen a set of 8 for our little motors atleast here in montana we buy them as a single plug since you can use only one at a time.:poop:

well, to be honest it doesn't matter if the spark plug is for a 455 olds, a lawnmower or a small block chevy.
as long as the plugs reach is the same as what fits in the bike engine, it'll work.
see, he had an ngk b6hs plug in the bike engine, and that's the most reccomended plug for these things.
He bought some new ngk b6hs plugs that came in an 8 pack (they are packaged individually but in a box of 8).
so wheather he bought 3 plugs out of a package of 8 or if he bought all 8 of those plugs...they are all the same.
the fact that the plugs are in an 8 pack doesn't matter.
Just like you can go and buy a set of spark plug wires for a 350 chevy, and put them on a 350 pontiac....it doesn't matter because they are the same.

Thanks again motor....cleaning things up! Well I think it ran good yesterday we had a nice day in the mid 50 and today more riding time it's going to be in mid 60.I think maybe when I put the rope in the spark plug to tighten the cen clutch.I might cleared some carbon thats why it hit.Motor you need to try a cen clutch there awesome.Motorpsycho have you had a cns carb?I think I read a older post that you were going to get one.Well If you haven't don't,but mines just ok I really think I'm going back to a nt....

yes i did have a cns at one time.
I put it on, it worked great for about 20 minutes, and then fell off the intake tube.
It would not stay clamped tight to the intake tube and it kept working it;s way off.
so, I made a new plastic collar to go inside the carb to make it clamp tighter around the intake tube.
again, it ran good but it seemed to run better with my old nt. so i put the nt back on and sold the cns for the same amount that I paid for it.

im agreeing with the dislodgment of carbon from the piston...

i run bp6hs, which is at least 5mm longer than the b6hs. (or did until the boot started arcing out on the frame requiring a major change to a champion  cj6, being a short and stumpy kind of plug that was handy)

it "hit the piston" once... just enough to make it die halfway to work

if a b6hs is hitting and closing the gap...pull ya head off and scrape something! washers are...dodgy and amateur :snobby:
