I'm new to this forum but not exactly new to the hobby. My minibike is what mainly got me into small engines and bikes, it's a 1970 Rupp with a 5hp Briggs.

Ive only had one motorized bicycle and it used a 25cc homelite engine that had a craftsman socket spindle for friction drive. it was a pain to keep running right (mainly because everything on it was rigged to work)but fun to ride when it did. After a while though it got irritating and I took it apart.

my current project right now is a motorized bicycle that ISNT going to be rigged together, using a 99cc Predator engine I scored from ebay.. ill start a project log for that later today.

Here are my guidelines for building:

1) Predominant riding terrain.
2) Primary rider's physique.
3) Lookup and read local legal requirements.
4) Type of bike.
5) Budget.

1. I plan on riding on mainly asphalt, I really have no desire to do off roading. here in Florida theres not too many hills or rough terrain so I think my rigid frame and slicks will be alright.

2. I'm 6'1" and very thin.. Don't really have to worry about the bike crushing under my weight, the length should be plenty to save me from backaches as well.

3. anything over 49cc's is considered a legal motorcycle and MUST be registered. ...Thats why I plan on putting a 49cc sticker on my engine

4. its a rigid frame mountain bike with a 24" rear wheel and a 20" front wheel + forks to give it a nice drop and a cool look. I'll go more in depth in my project log.

5. Just calculated what I need to make the bike look all pretty and run well... somewhere around $200 + cost of paint.. considering I don't have a job ill probably just have to sell my kidney (just kidding). nah I'll come by the money eventually, my rupp took almost two years to complete and I blew around $400 on it. I'm not afraid to 'donate' a little cash on my projects .
