my ride for a 50 mile round trip

wbuttry:

Well, I have an 34ft RV and these motorized bicycles are easy to transport so that I can park the RV and drive the bike if I need to when I'm away from home on trips. With motorized bicycles I can easly carry 2 without the need for a motorcycle rack. I know these are not like real motorcycles I know it's a Hobby not a Harley. but it works out great for my motorhome. Also, the town I live in is really set up for bicycles. I live in southern CA coastal town (Santa Barbara, CA), there are bike paths everywhere that motorcycles can't use but these are not motorcycles. There are some really cool tracks with no traffic right along the beach. It's a great place to have a motorized bicycle because there are plenty of hills here too. I just got a kit off of e-bay (66cc/80cc ,2 stroke) but I'm having a blast riding it. I got the boost bottle upgrade and even with dirt tires on it I can top out about 40 MPH.

Yes, motorized bikes would be perfect for RV's. I've seen small cars towed by RV's as a get-around vehicle. An MB would be MUCH better.

5-7 Heaven:

Yes, MBs are awesome for motor homes! It really works out well. Just for you info, RVers refer to small get-around vehicles that they tow as "toads". Most of the time they are just small cars or motorcycles. However, even motorcycles are heavy and usually require a hitch rack to carry, MBs can fit just about anywhere, I can even remove the front wheel and put it in a basement compartment, simple! With the price of gas these days, MBs keep the weight down so my motor home gets better gas mileage than it would if I was towing a car or motorcycle. Also, I have a small boat that I sometimes tow behind the motor home and motorbikes work great as "toads". Maybe I have too many toys but life is good!

Actually those vehicles are called Tow'ds. (pronounced the same). I have decided to put my brand new Staton FD kit with RS engine on my brand new Cranbrook. Sounds like it will work out fine. I have a China Gas tank ordered, but have provisions for carrying a couple of gallons if necessary. At least it does not have to use premix. I had originally bought a vintage Trek 800 to use the kit on, but before I got anywhere, a friend of mine, who can still ride pedal bikes talked me into selling it to him for way more than I paid, he wanted it so bad I just couldn't resist. The RS engine is a known quantity, the Staton kit seems first rate, my main concern on a longer trip is whether the Cranbrooks rear wheel will hold up under my 220 pounds, the engine and mounting kit, and other stuff I have attached to the bike. I may wind up having to go with a better wheel.

Hey suitcase the Cranbrook come with the heavy duty spoke and rear end. I'm 225 to 230 and it will hold my arse. So i'm sure you will be fine and the ht gas tank is the way to go. I know a lot of people wont be able to fit the tank on the main tube but on friction drive. You can always make a set of brackets and mount it to the top of the friction drive channel. And it would be a perfect fit all self contained . But the good thing about a Cranbrook is that it is a steel frame heavier yeah also a lot stronger than aluminum bikes are. And will ever be.....

today was a good day. I took a trip today. I did 25 miles on my dax friction and I replaced that other motor with a dax titan 50 looks like the others just a little bit stronger and a lot better grade of motor . It took 1 and a 1/2 tanks of fuel . i.5 liter tank im thinking not sure. Didnt have a problem and got wet with the frictin drive. Didnt even slip and still did 20 mph at half throttle. So i made it in a hour not bad and. I stopped for about 10 minutes to fill it back up get a drink and adjust my back pack. I didnt half to come back on it i went and picked up my van at the shop. But all in all very happy with the motor. I had a bout 50 to 75 miles on it before i left. And i had tuned it to run just about full speed then i backed it off so it takes a minute to get full speed out of it. So i dont ruin the engine and using 1/2 to 3/4 ounce extra oil for safety i'm ready for another ride like that ....:D

i took off my happy time engine as it didnt make me to happy any more .Starting to get old has 3000 mile on it from its long life of 3 yrs and 2 different bikes. First i gotta say the dax friction drive is awesome very maintnence free set it and forget it. Ok the bike a huffy cran brick . the motor a monster motor 49cc 2 stroke . a dax friction drive . A 216 pound lard but like me. Honestly instead of motorbiking this trip i should be pedaling it. But i get enough exercise all the time at work i work on barges and inspect grain elevaters . any way in the process of pitting front brakes on it to go along with the coaster brakes . i did a few pics to show what i got so here they are. As you can see i left the unhappy time tank on there it is getting ready to get a long hose attached to it with a new filter to use to hold rxtra fuel for longer rides. And the water bottle is gonna be used for just that water. And i got a back pack to use for other stuff this is all gonna happen around spring .I'm gonna order a few extra engines for this bike. Nothing wrong with what i got just want a few spares and probally order a few extra friction kits from dax.

That design has been around since the 60's. Its a u-channel bracket with the clutch and drive wheel. I have one like it but it doesn't have a clutch or the u-channel bracket and it mounts on with 1 Bolt. I get 30mph outta it and its a 26cc. Ihave 5,000miles on mine its mounted on a beach cruiser. I paid $250 fot the kit and $80 for the bike.. Its a sweet ride. Your kit is a good one to. I like all friction drive kits they have been more reliable for me in the past. I just got a vintage bike bug from my buddy. Still in the box!

I may be getting a lot faster than 20 mph i'm useing a cheap schwin speedo. I dont know if i got it set rite . And plus to i got my roller pressed to hard aginst my tire .I bet if i released it a little it would be easier to pedal and might go a lot faster. And i also got my motor ritchened up alot more than needed for longer life. Plus im 216 after all of those changes i might hit 30 mph . I dont really drive it for speed i drive it for fun and a reason to get out of the house by myself. I just love getting on my bike and going to the river and just watching the riverboats . And i'm talking about the old paddle boats with the inboard motor hidden under them like the missippi queen and others .But i need to check out my speedo and see if it is set rite and adjust my roller a bit to make peddleing easierthough and i might lean it out just a tad more we will see.....

What size roller ya using..The best is 1 1/8in roller. I have a 1 1/4in roller on mine for more top end speed. but the 1 1/8in is the perfect size for good torque and top end speed. I use delrin it doesn't wear out the tire and its cheap.
