I dont fix mine very often. But of course i only ride it when it rains. Which isn't often. The last time i did have to fix it I busted my chain tensioner.
I started a post on the friction drive similiar to this one and half the response was from chain guys hating on me for my kit doing what i say it does. So im asking you guys what does your kit do and how often do you fix it? I know they can be dependable with the right care im not putting your kit down. So please tell me when and whats the last thing you fixed? I cleaned my carb the other day on mine.

Well, i can make comment on this thread, for i've spent a good part of the last 2 years working on; fixing and re-engineering the chain drive system on my bike to make it totally reliable.

In typical operation the bike was quite reliable but a standard setup is next to useless when getting involved in heavy duty off-road touring which has the wheels and practically anything that moves being caked in mud, sand, and and any other element of nature, not to mention water crossings and filthy steep hill climbs in the worst conditions imaginable with a heavily loaded trailer hanging off the back.

As they say, getting there reliably is half the fun.

So im guessing you fix it often. Let me guess you pull the stuck 4wheelers out of the mud to. ROFTHLMAO-

Technically your comments are correct but the tense needs definition: prior to my current level of enviable reliability, i often used to spend countless hours redesigning and fixing the drive train and everything surrounding it.

Gosh no, 2stroker, pulling 4wheelers out of the mud is a walk in the park. I've moved on from such easy challenges - hauling 12Wheelers now.

Your carts dont weigh as much as my 4wheeler dealers does( your not pulling it outta the mud). You were talking like you go through the toughest muddiest conditions on your bike.. i know that your kit has more power and that it will ride on a wet road and go up hills better than mine. But the hardcore fact is its unreliable. Its not gonna last as long as a friction kit and its gonna break alot more. Look at all the post on em. Deathproof was my favorite. "Thats it guys im done with these things they are junk". Exact words. ya you go fast and can pull little carts around but how long can you pull before you break something. I ride my bike 30miles to work everyday and haven't touched it in months. . Yes you have more power, speed. But your lacking reliability and thats what matters when your 30miles away from home on a bicycle. Beats walking. . Try Again!! . If you wanna prove something to me about your kit start a post about your kit and what it does. I like to see what other people do on theres and how much fun they have. Some people like chain drives and like fixing there kits. some people like friction and just wanna get on it and ride. To each his own. Ya its cool being able to pull those carts around. But its just for show.

2stroker, i gained much humour from your comment. It seems that comprehension skills need to be addressed before posting as i did say:

Considering i've pushed past the 35,000 kilometer mark on my bike (the last 10,000 being superbly reliable) i'm quite happy with the mechanical setup, as you have very well seen by the photos.

Any yes, i have traveled through the muddiest and toughest conditions on my bike, but that doesn't mean you have to emulate my kind of mechanical reliability with your system under friction.

Your so full of it dude! I have checked out your past post and the problems you have had. Was that before or after your 5 engines you have gone through. I have had the same engine since 09 and i haven't done nothing to it except adjust the carb a few times. Just keep up the hard work! Im going riding!

Oh yes, i've had a wholesale amount of problems, but my bike has now been engineered to cope with the demands asked of it.

2stroker, in all of your comments you compare my bike and the requirements i ask of it to your bike, of which your bike is not even asked a fraction of the capability of my bike and kit.

Your debate isn't on a level playing field.
If it was, your bike would be wholly unsuitable and incapable to cope with tasks asked of my bike.

It's a case of apples not being apples - more like sour grapes trying to be strawberries!

no my bike would not pull around what yours does. How many people out there are pulling around a bunch of goofy carts for attention. Not many. I come from the average MOB side. The type that depends on there kits to go to work and back. The type that needs something reliable and thats not gonna break 30miles from home. not everyone knows how to fix motorized bikes. The average motorized biker would love to just slap on his engine and ride and not worry about all the stuff that goes wrong. how many kits have you gone through? 5 oh ya real reliable.
