Hi all, just got some new stators for the common 2-stroke engines, and they measure at 450 +/- 20 ohms. I wasn't involved with these things back in the 250 ohm stators, which I understand made the engines harder to start, so were replaced by the 350 ohm stators.

Questions:

Has anyone else seen/used these?

Will the extra output change the trigger point in the timing of the CDI? (maybe advancing it)

With CDI units seeming a bit on the fragile side, will this cause more dead CDIs?

any info someone may have will be appreciated, thanx

Where did you buy them from?
thanks

don't have a pic handy, but except for being a shade fatter they look just as they always do

just happed to measure one when replacing a dead one on a bike & was surprised at the diff - grabbed another new one out of the crate & it read the same

looks the same, costs the same as usual

had trouble mounting it tho as the 2 rivets on the lower side of the lamination were not finished flush enough to keep it from standing a bit proud in relation to the rotor face

makes a nice spark, but we're worried about frying the CDI

dunno where as I'm just the mechanic, but it was same place we always get them

sorry for short answer, but I don't sell them or deal with the business stuff, and at my age I might not remember where I got them if I did buy them myself : (

all I know is that with different length barrels and two sizes of woodruff keys on both cranks & output shafts, it's getting real hard to fit parts into these things

OK, just got word that these came from BGF and they were returned & replaced by the usual 350 ohm stators, so we're not going to have to deal with those 450s. Anyone ordering from BGF might want to specify the 350 ohm stators if they don't want to try out the new ones.

If someone does try these tho, I'd like to hear how well they work.
