I found on eBay someone who says they have a GENUINE 80cc motor, with pictures of 49cc and 66cc pistons in comparison to their 80cc.

Anyone else seen these? Used them?

80 cc motor on eBay

I want to buy a new motor as soon as I have the cash (as a backup ready to go) and I noticed this listing because it was a reasonable price for ENGINE ONLY (I don't need a full motor kit, especially since I'm running a lot of non-stock anyway)

thanks!

If the piston is larger than 47mm (because it needs to be around 50mm in diameter), everyone on this site will buy engines from that eBay seller.

I have seen this ebay ad and saved the pic.
I doubt if they even took that pic themselves and just "borrowed" it off the web.

They are either very ignorant about what they selling or they are blatant liars.

rose326a photo is of a 48 cc, 58? cc and 66 cc piston.

There is no such thing as an 80 cc piston.

The 58? cc size was fairly rare and was sold by Grubee and maybe others.

I got my hands on what looks to be the same kit recently and the motors are
pretty junky. The pinion gear was seriously misaligned from the clutch gear and
the silver paint job on the motor was really bad. Notice that the exhaust gasket
is painted silver!

The piston in our engine is bigger then the 66cc and 49cc pistions. The cylinder heads are also different sizes.
Notice how they say the cylinder heads are also 'different sizes" LOL
They are liars and should be avoided.

I've sent the guy about 5 or 6 emails and he refuses or keeps dodging the question on the piston diameter of the "Genuine 80cc" kit.
In his last email, he said that all 80cc engine kits had been sold, so he couldn't take a piston measurement.

Here is a pic of how far the pinion gear was out of line
on one of their crappy motors.

I too sent him an email. I asked him if it was just a bored out 66 CC engine or was it in fact made as a true 80 CC? No reply. Imagine that.

Look at the jug on the pic, it is a 66 cc and it is not possible to bore one out as there is no room.
No big mystery on the "real 80cc" as it's just the usual we count the volume of the head which is pure BS but the pic of the 3 piston sizes is a new twist and will probably start a new rumor.

I found the listing in the first place because I was looking for "just the motor" (as a spare) and his was the first that came up.

I also asked him a question about the external physical size of the motor, and he only replied with "we only sell these and not the 66ccs" so again, dodging the question.

I was a little dubious that what he had was a "genuine 80cc" and I figured I would have heard about it a SOME point elsewhere... So yeah, it sounds like he might just be lying...

even a true 2 stroke "80 c.c." (japanese, such as suzuki, yamaha, and kawasaki) is not TRULY an 80 c.c.
when you see "suzuki RM 80" you're actully getting an engine that is like 79 c.c.'s. yeah it's closer to 80 c.c.'s than these 66's are, but still , there is no true 80 c.c. engine...they are all rounded up to 80 c.c.'s
