Well hey there.

I've been lurking around the forums for a few days now so I figured it was time to make an appearance.

So I'm originally from Huntington Beach, CA. Just moved up to Rexburg ID for college. My username explains why I want a motored bike.

It actually seems like the coolest thing in the world to me, to have such a fun and efficient way to get around. I keep having fantasies of cross country trips on a bike

I don't ride anything yet, as I'm trying to make this a very careful purchase.

Welcome. You can go almost anywhere with motorized bikes. For a cross country trip personally I would get a decent 4-stroke engine so you don't have to worry about mixing oil.

Oh great! So my cross country dreams haven't been crushed.

Ya from reading around I know to get a 4 stroke for reliability and to buy american made parts.

Here's another question, is what's in this video possible? from a towing perspective. I don't have any idea about the towing capacity of these bikes or how many horsepower I should look for. I read a rather detailed post about titanium shift kits and everything but I'm still a little short on the main idea with towing. Especially cross country.

That's a cool bike camping trailer. Never seen anything like it! I would say a motorized bike would tow one of them easily. You might want to look into a shift kit for going up hills.

UK laws are fairly restrictive on the trailer size and weight and minimum capacity of the towing bike, but one thing you might consider is a box trailer with a body about 7 feet long, 2 feet wide or one that's 4 feet long and 3 feet wide, opening to 6, with a top that folds out to 4 feet, then tie a small tent to the top of it. OK, you have to have legs and ropes to hold it in place, but you could make it light enough. The tralier box wouldn't need to be all that big either, just the top.

Just a thought.
