Engine Trouble All the research isn't helping, the SOB will not run!

It might be of interest to you that i have extensively ridden dirt bikes for most of my life, with two notable machines being my old air cooled 1984 KX 500 and my CR 500. Both were a lot of fun to ride but nothing is as much fun to ride as my motorized bicycle.

All of my dirt bikes have been sold and my 1000cc sports bike is being sold next month, because i no longer use it, for the reason that the motorized bicycle is just miles and miles ahead of my dirt and road bikes in the fun and enjoyment department.

Hang on a bit, i'm trying to multi-task; typing away and at the same time, planning my next adventure on the motorized pushbike.

Oh yes, it is a full time dedication; sometimes even more: my last girlfriend said "quote - it's me or that d.a.m.n bicycle".

I am happy to say that i still have my motorized pushbike, now with even more accessories than my ex-girlfiend would ever allow :D

Have you checked the CDI box for spark when it fails ? No spark can appear as a carb problem . I'd try another CDI box
before badmouthing anything else. At least a replacement carb is under $ 20 ditto for black box. What other motorsport
has parts * that * cheap ?

the chinese carb should go right to the garbage can, never even tried. Put a Dellorto on it.
also check the tightness of the screws holding the stator coil on. loose connection there means a bad ground connection for the CDI (which is also inexcusably crap).
complicating things further is that the crank seals can leak even though new. sometimes they are installed crooked. luckily a jewelers screwdriver can be used to pry them out and a new one can be pressed in with your fingers. Best ones are from Rock Solid Engines.

C'mon people, don't give too much good advise. I want to pick me up a free motorized bicycle at the tip, and get it home and have it running in 5 minutes flat.

What happened to the communal spirit we share around here.

A freeby is a freeby in anyones terms - just got to find that tip...

I feel for ya Zulu. I've been the route. I hear a lot of "my chinese
engine runs great.", but somehow I ain't feeling it. My advice is save
your shekels & buy a good Japanese engine, i.e. Tanaka, Honda, or
Subaru. I've never gone thru the hassles I had with the chinese engines
with my Tanaka PF4000 or my Honda GX35. Both engines have been
totally reliable right out of the box without the seemingly endless need for
coddling & tweaking.

Couldn't sleep last night trying to work out why this thing wont start, it has to start!

Yep tried that thx mate, it has a good spark, i soldered the connectors earlier in the week because I figured they might be the problem. Where is the best place to get these parts? I see a lot of places advertise?

Good advice perhaps, I broke one of the fingers off the carby collar this am whilst trying a different clamp, so if i need to get a new carb, may as well get a Dellorto.
Again, any advise on where to get one, plus a CDI?

You are only halfway there Zulu.

When you get serious about problem solving, you'll wake up at 3am; carefully sneaking out of bed (desperately trying not to wake up the girlfriend/wife) and head straight for the shed/garage and start pulling things apart and reassembling the whole kit and kaboodle, then quietly pushing the bike to the next street with your miners light attached to your head to begin testing the engine by revving the rings out of it at 4:30am.
