First attempt DIY Friction drive (Staton roller + Honda GX25)

Here's whats been keeping me busy the past while. Not quite finished (the bars to push it down are connected to nothing) but I'll post more pics soon after I give her a good clean and bring out the proper camera. Got new brake pads & cable today, tyre and have a few SKF bearings in reserve for when these ould Chinese ones pack up

Good job definately not a wall hanger, too much mud on it. Roller will work better if you rinse the mud off once in awhile. That u-channel looks different from a staton one, is it your creation?

Yep it is. That piece of thread at the back is after snapping though so I'll have to make a back piece as well I'd say with 3 bolts on each side (use one on each side for the bars)

Gave it a good blast today except for the inside and the engine. I have been trying to take the muck out of the roller but its surprisingly well compacted in there. There's road works here and every day they're spraying water onto the road to keep the dust down

Your bike looks like it was made for a friction drive setup. Good choice.
 
That's my kind of MAB, simple yet functional.
 
In the 1st pic it looks like a lot of bolts are holding something attached to the channel. Did you make that with angle iron then bolt flat sheets to it?................in the 2nd pic my ?s answered. Never seen one put together like that.......good job.
 
Nice bike! I'm interested in doing a similar build for a downhill bike one day.
