Will my 80cc motor fit in this bike?

Hey everyone,

Leaving this pretty much to the last minute, and stressing out a bit... I just bought my engine kit off eBay for a decent price... and have been looking at this bike in store.

The last thing I need to know is what size I should get? I'm looking at the 19" bike, because I'm not all that tall (177cm). I was wondering if anyone could help me out a bit here.... thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
That bike in a 19" will work but you'll need a couple of parts.

The first will be to measure the front downtube width and get a Small SBP front mount. Note you enter the front diameter to order the mount, there are different sizes. If your tube is fatter than the size they have choose the Large front mount.

And you might as well grab an Iridium plug while you are there.

Then strip everything off of the handlebars.
Remove your front derailleur and set it along with the cable and shifter in a box.

Put everything back on kind of like this for best results.

Granted you have a cheap E-bay kit with an NT carb so no choke lever and that bike is 6-speed and I use foam grips on every build but you get the idea.
Still only 2 twisters and 2 levers on the handlebars.

In short your bike already has 2 levers and 2 twisters , don't try to add another lever and twister or it will be a dangerous to operate mess ;-}

Absolutely! other then the spacers you may need and spiffy metal widget SBP has made it's just a muffler clamp, I just buy that spiffy metal bracket and hardware (I love the spacers and use them elsewhere) and just get the right size muffler clamp from the auto supply store I could could walk to for like a $1.

For me it all comes down to my time vs. cost to buy what I know works but ya, I have made motor mounts from raw material without a metal shop like my custom mount motor mount for my electric trikes.

I spent 10 hours getting it right but would have happily paid $20 for it if it existed because hey, I don't work for $2 an hour ;-}

Thanks for all the replies, been a bit slack and didn't get to reply!

I have fitted the engine to my bike, with a few customizations, thus being cutting a bit where the brackets go on the lower tube, and placing some rubber under all the joints for less rattling.

I also live in Australia, so, I don't know if that website would ship to Australia for me, 'Sick Bike Parts'. If anyone knows about their shipping, would you please tell me and how long it would take to get here...

Other then that, I may post some pictures of it soon, will see how I go and how it runs, currently having problems with the bike not starting, after riding it for most of the day today, probably going out in the morning to buy a new spark plug... as of I couldn't see any spark when earthed off.

I think if you ask anyone that knows anything about bike building, They will tell you that rubber mounting will not reduce vibration and usually makes it worse. All rubber mounting does is give the mount room to move and will result in MORE vibration. I'm pretty sure that other builders will jump in and back me up on this.
A no spark situtuation is usually not the plug, But a new plug never hurts. I generally don't see it on an engine this new, But no spark, most of the time, is a bad coil. I'm hoping it's not. Coils aren't expensive, But it would just suck on an engine this new. Also, While you're picking up a new plug, Buy a new auto grade plug wire and boot. The chinese stuff is crap.
And you could probably contact SBP directly. From what I've heard about them they are pretty good about returning e-mails and answering questions.

P.S. I forgot to ask, Did you hook up the white wire? Don't ever hook up the white wire to anything.

Thanks for the feedback on the rubber, I'll just leave it in there for now, and wait till it just gets really bad (splitting etc). I went out and bought a new plug today (B6HS) and all is running great! But what you're saying with the new ignition is a great idea, the chinese stuff is really bad.. The site I'm buying parts from is; http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/ and http://www.autobarn.com.au/ . If you could possibly find something I could hook up with everything, it would be greatly appreciated, as of I have no clue what I'm looking for.

Apart from that, the white wire... well, when I took the cover off for the magneto? (Think this is what it's called) I couldn't see any white wires...

Thanks in advance if you could rig me up come parts from either of those sites, just link all the parts here or something.

I've heard that the newer engines are not coming with a white wire. This is a good thing. It was supposed to hook up to your kill switch according to the manual, But that wire created a direct short to the coil and made coil life shorter. The two kill switch wires just hook up to the black and blue wires comong from the CDI unit, One to each, don't matter which way.

Just google "Bicycle engine" and look for quality+price. Be carsfull, Some will charge TRIPLE for parts you can get a lot cheaper elswhere. And before making a major investment on anything, Get back to us and ask around about it. No one here will steer you wrong. Well, Not on purpose anyway.
