Brakes Help with brakes!!

So I just built my first bike and the rear wheel came with a coaster hub so I just completely removed it and installed a new freewheel wheel. I need to attach some kind of brake, not a disk brakes, but something along the lines of v pull breaks. Any help on how I can do that because there isnt any mounts for the brakes. Thanks guys

down on the chain stay i can see a small tube. usually theres a handy hole there... otherwise, drill one and mount the calipers there. dont need much on the rear anyway! fronts are MANDATORY.

otherwise, only real option is have vbrake pivots brazed to the frame...

with some conniving, you can get a sprocket on with coaster brakes anyways

I suggest that you not only get one disk brake, but two disk brakes!

Decent disc brakes are expensive, replacing hubs and then getting the spacing correct for the disc. My thoughts are to buy a bike that's already got disc or one that's set up for discs. Disc is the way to go though.

How cheap is a few days, weeks or months after being admitted to the Hospital Emergency Ward because your brakes failed to operate in an efficient manner; saving your bee-hind.

My DB edgewood is setup for disc on the front but has Vbrakes. I checked out a bike shop here and asked how much to set it up for a decent disc brake on the front. 200$ was the quote..............I said thanks i'll think about it and that was last year. Still thinking about it this summer, might be next summer too.

I suggest you put the right size wheel on the back. Then put the coaster brake back together, and use it if you can. Then get caliper brakes unless you can buy disc brakes. I had to create extensions for my rear caliper because of the frame shape, but combined with the coaster, and a front caliper also you'll have some decent brakes.

I made Little extensions with a slight s curve in them, and then mounted them with 2 small screws and nuts so they would work. I also drilled a hole for the rear brake in the frame, which is not aluminum.

Here's a pic. The extra screw is for good measure.
