Hello. I hope this is the right place to post this.

I sell a few MB's on ebay from time to time. Mostly as a hobby, but I make a few bucks too. Today I got a message through ebay asking me to send pics of the EPA certification on my engine to an EPA email address. I looked up the person's name that was in the address & the person is in charge of Recreational Vehicles (off road motorcycles, ATV's & snowmobiles.)

I did not respond back to the email address given, but instead just sent a message back through ebay stating I buy my engines from gasbike.net & to check their epa certificates.

I figured this could be someone else who sells bikes just trying to ruffle feathers. I checked out the ebay used name, and they've been a member since 2010 with only 1 purchase. No other info available.

So what do you think of this whole thing? I really don't plan on giving up selling on ebay.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a scam, EPA doesn't enforce anything through emails or phone calls. Seems you'd get an official letter or a knock on the door from them. It's not illegal to sell vintage stuff either. What does Ebay say when asked? I myself can create multiple accounts on Ebay so that doesn't mean much.......

Give us a link to their user name.

Sounds like another seller messing with you or just someone that hates motorized bikes.

the EPA does not do enforcement through an eBay account!!! LOL

Gasbike does not have a current EPA cert but their old motors EPA certs are still good.

Thanks for the reassurance that this was probably nothing. The ebay used name is "ydeng22918" - they have been on ebay since 2010 with one transaction over a year ago.

I was kind of freaked out when I first got it & looked up the guys name in the email. But I figured that I'd just use my head & respond back to the ebay message. I haven't heard back from the person yet, and I doubt I ever will.

quick ! get rid of all youre stock and RUN! its the modern times boy, you gunna get DONE!

and btw, dont forget to transfer $2350 via western union to "yetanotherscam" at your local PO before sending hand crafted and signed in triplicate copies of said EPA certificate :)

it could just be a curious customer?

otherwise. you can report them , cant you?

nothing lost anyway. all good :)

It's a dang shame these days, we have to deal with "scammers" and "spammers". Heck, it's bad enough having to learn what those words mean. Ahhh, technology?
