Ever hear the saying "keep it simple stupid"; Well I only had one little peice of metal left, and I wanted a chain tension-er with a spring. Luckily I have the better roller bracket that came with the kit, and # 8 bolts. I wouldn't try this with the cheap one their supplying now. Didn't cost much either.

Good thinking there.

Does it have the strength it needs?

I'm going to keep an eye on it. I didn't want to buy a 3 foot piece of thicker metal. The bottom mount is pretty stout, and I wet sanded the 2 pieces smooth to eliminate any gap between them, and then applied grease to let it move easily. I also used some old inner tube rubber on the frame, which helps with the seating of the mount, and makes it harder to twist. There's a couple of big washers on the back, so being a short piece of steel?? Before when I wanted to align it I hit it with a small sledge hammer to bend it in. But I am going to keep an eye on it.
