Where can I get a CDI? I do not need a $75 CDI, just something that will make the bike run. I have one of the cheap China bikes.

Can I use CDIs from other 2-stroke engines? How can I know they are compatible? Again, I am not looking for an expensive, high-performance CDI, just a cheap replacement to get the engine running again.

Oh yes you "do" need a $75 CDI, because it works well and ensures good connecting rod bearing life.
On the other hand, if you just want something to make the bike run, the quickest method is to install a standard bicycle engine CDI.

Just google motorized bicycle parts.
Almost all the dealers carry them.
Order an upper connecting rod bearing while you are at it.
