Had my bike (happy time) for almost 2 weeks now and im still at the tweaking stage for things like the chain and chain tensioner.

How long has it taken you to get your bike to the stage when you can ride it whenever and its fine?

Many of us never stop tinkering. We try different brakes, seats, headlights. We make brackets out of household items or leftover car parts. We reroute cables and wires for appearance and better durability. We repaint. We try out the newest gadgets. Many of those things cost very little or sometimes nothing at all. However, you can spend $5000 on your motorized bike if that is what you want.

With an HT probably a month of sundays before you can ride it...................nah just depends on your skillset and experience, that means it's different for every individual.

I had mine up and running in about 4 hours, but it took me a few months to get it the way I like it. Granted, about a month and a half of it was waiting for parts to come in the mail. Of course, I haven't stopped working on it, there's always improvements to be made.

My theory is that you will get 95% of it done in 3-4 hours and then the next 5% will take a few months. this includes things like the chain tensioner and tweaking little things

Hate to break the news to you but it's never going to happen. Just when you think it's perfect you'll discover something that'll make it better.

They will run fine long enough to seduce you, then break your heart. But, tinkering is where the fun is, right? If you're not a tinkerer, get out of the hobby now, 'cause keeping an HT running is an ongoing thing.

I couldn't have said it better myself!!

If you ever go to a MB race, you'll see every one of them tweaking something before the race starts.

Or you can upgrade to an engine/bike that doesn't require so much tinkering. All motorized bicycles require some degree of maintenance or occasional improvements. But with ht's, it's a lot more often. I've got a bike with a large displacement 4 stroke, and the only reason it needs a little work right now is because it's been sitting all winter, and I'm almost done with it. Of course, then there's the motorcycle drum that I want to use and a few other things later on down the road, but I'm not working on it constantly every day or every week. Most of the time it's little things like making sure my tire pressure is good or changing my oil, maybe adjusting my bottom bracket once in awhile.

Check this out, 1 Staton F/D kit, 1 Gasbike HS 49cc and a bike of your choosing, say $400. 1 hours [fine tuning for a week or so] but your ridin.
