So I opened up my motor after the first tank to see how everything was looking and to clean out the ports, and was quite surprised when I looked inside! I've seen some ports from other people's jugs and many look miserable; slag everywhere, tiny, rectangular ports, burs, you name it. When I opened mine up to see what kind of monstrosity I was going to be faced with, I let out a huge sigh of relief. There are a few burs on the intake, but I cleaned them up so we'll see if there's any improvement. I was able to do about 30mph flat just on the first tank with no modifications, and I attribute that to my already, largely clean, and rounded out ports. Has anyone else gotten this clean of ports from stock? And would opening them up further be worth my time? I do have another jug on the way so I can experiment with porting, but I may just leave this one as-is for a backup if I over-work the new one.
One other question I had was whether or not you guys' intake ports are angled like these, or are they just straight shots like the exhaust, but lower on the jug?
