My bike has worked rather well up until a week ago. (Running for almost a year now with minor repairs here and there.)

But my issue now is that the engine will not engage when I release the clutch. I have tracked the problem through the clutch and to the smaller of the two cogs in what I believe is referred to as the crank case. After removing the smaller cog, I notice a part appears to be missing. Perhaps worn away from friction?

I have searched a bit online and my best guess is that it is the part labeled #6 on this diagram.

Has anyone else had this problem?

looks like #6 is the crank seal which is a rubber piece - I'm thinking it is the woodruff key that hold the gear in place on the shaft instead

Oh dammit. I already ordered a seal. :geek: It is ridiculously hard finding any documentation regarding the internals of these engines. But that makes a heck of a lot more sense. Is it worth the 5 bucks for a new one or can i fashion one out of scrap?

yeah, woodruff keys (thats the lil gremlins name) are pretty easy to fab up. file, hacksaw, a suitable lump of bar...aka a bolt, a...um... thick washer, etc. they have standard radiuses...i think its a 1/2" on these engines. iunno. never measured one...

you can also buy a full set of them for half that price, (lots of unuseable ones ;)) or go find either a motorbike mechanic, a small engine (chainsaws etc) mechanic, or an engineering supply shop... also people that deal with industrial fasteners... theyll give one to you just to get rid of you!

the spare seal will come in handy, dont worry!

I went to autozone and got a box of the little buggers for 5 bucks. They were a bit too big so I filed one down and I'm back on the road! Thanks for the help.
