I picked up a 1999-2004 Wc1 cruzzer the other day for a really good price so I decided to try a new project with a modern reproduction Whizzer. I was aware of the problems with the wc1 motor, but the price on this bike was so cheap I couldn't resist it! Besides it hadn't developed the valve seat problem yet (at least not until the second time I rode it) I was hoping to get a little more riding in before I decided on some upgrades, but since the motor took a dump already I decided to expedite the upgrade process.
My first Wc1 project was a mess and ended up with me parting the bike out to get my money back. It probably was not a good idea to listen to people who's only interested in selling you parts, but don't really know what the're talking about! I learned a lot from that first mishap and I'm hoping to do better with this one.
The first thing I did was get a hold of Quenton and ship the cylinder and head to him. He's going to fix the valve seat problem and clean up the ports when he reworks the cylinder and mill the head and reshape the combustion chamber. He's been really busy so I didn't get any time frame on this, but I imagine that this wouldn't take long once he gets to it.
I also couldn't find out if I should get a new carb for this? It has the original which I guess is a 16mm? Would a bigger carb be a good idea for this or would it be a waste of money? I wanted to add a little power to the bike, but I'm not looking to make a drag racer or do wheelies! Any suggestions would be welcome. I'm not really an engine mechanic and not looking to get too complicated.
The bike itself was pretty complete and rides pretty good. The kid that sold me this had made a few styling changes to it that's not really my taste so I've been working on getting it back to a more comfortable style that I like. I'm posting a few pics of the bike as I got it and will post a few more when it's done. Don't want to bore you with the details.

New Carburetor

Well I couldn't find out any solid info on a new carb for my project so I ordered one from Joe Lin in Taiwan. It was listed on ebay as PZ20 (PFT) carburetor set fits Cruzzer and whizzer WC1-NE5 engines.20 mm (intake size) carburetor with #90 main jet. Don'r really know much about this carb so I hope it will work. Still waiting for some word from Quenton on my engine parts.
I've been working on stripping the tank on this and getting it ready for painting. I had a really hard time with whatever was on this tank. It seemed to be a combination of powder coat and paint??? Not really sure but there was no primer at all and was really thick! I had to keep reapplying coats of stripper and scrapping on it. You can see the weird deep cracking on the top of the tank. I have another tank I can use until I finish this one. 1zzzzzz.jpgIMG_20140918_114735.jpg

Nice score! How many miles did the motor have?
The original carb will still work fine with what repair work your having done to the cylinder and head. The 20mm carb that's shown is a tight fit for the wc-1 cylinder. Round carb works better.

Thanks Ray. Bike had high miles on it. 1600. Sent the cylinder and head off to Quenton a week ago and have not heard from him. This site seems almost dead. Can't get a single response from nobody! PM me your email. I have some pics for you. I'm really disappointed because we're having what could be the last few really nice days left of weather and I have nothing to ride.

Motor looks like this, at least mine does.
Its a wc-1 polish up.

Sounds like something gone wrong lilback?
I've got more info if you'd like.

Keep us posted of the progess lilback, Quenton used to place a small air oil separater(pipe) in the valve tappet cavity, between the valve guides. Best thing he ever made!
Also, use oil that has zinc with at least 1200ppm-1400ppm (WT. % 0.12-0.14)

Hi Chris,
Where are those 2 vintage bikes you had at Portland?
