I've been reading up on Harley Wizzer's and started to get interested in them. Anyone have one? If so I would like to see it. Its kind of a shame Harley doesn't seem to make small engine bikes anymore. They only make big bikes that require a license insurance etc. in all states these days. I wish Harley Davidson at least made Wizzer kits or a modern variant of the old bikes. It would be cool to see Harley Davidson make a new all america high quality motorized bike or engine kit. They've been really good at motorcycles so a quality bicycle engine kit should be easy for them.

Harley didn't make whizzers, they were two separate companies. Harley made Harleys. Whizzer made whizzers. If there was a collaboration between the two companies, Harley would've made the frame and whizzer would've added the engine. But I don't think that is the case.

Oh right. Guess it was because the wizzers I saw had a Harley theme so naturally I assumed it was a Harley motorized bike.

Still though, How cool would it be if Harley did start making motorized bikes and kits? I'd buy one. I think all hardware would be good quality but it would probability cost twice as much or more for a Harley motorized bike vs the china kits but it would still be a hell of allot cheaper than a big motorcycle while still maintaining Harley quality.

Or you could build your own custom motorbike. I'm working on one now with a 79cc predator, got about a grand in it, almost finished. Vintage American frame, hydraulic forks, built my own wheels, club handlebars, cafe style moped seat.

if harley made a motorized bike it would leak everywhere and shake hard. plus they'd probably use rubber mounts

I thought about doing something like that for my project for next year. I was even considering using one of the big predator engines. They even make the transmissions that can be fitted to a bicycle for those engines. I might try going a little crazy and try a 212cc predator which run for less than $100 or up to $200 which is a bargain for that engine size. Only downside is bicycle mounting hardware not included but luckily there are sources that sell mounting hardware. How do predator engines hold up? are they good as Honda engines?

I'm sure they would take into account that it's a motorized bike and try to eliminate those problems during testing for complete bikes. Untested kits might be another story though, but the hardware would still be decent quality compared to the cheap china stuff which I replace at the hardware store. One of my friends has had a Harley 48 for years and put tons of miles on it with no problems which means they test for any quality issues on their products.

Look at it this way. An American motorcycle company with a good rep would do allot better than any China company when it comes to engines.

I don't have any personal experience to relate, but there are guys with over 10k miles on their predators. And you'll be much better off with a 79cc. They can be built up to around 5 horses with a few simple mods. Mine will be about 5 when done.
