I bought my brother, which is homeless, a Mustang Racer 66cc/80cc Flying Horse 2-Stroke Engine Kit. He had problems with the links breaking, the motor mounts breaking and the magneto going defunct. He's not a happy camper, had to order another magneto and links for him. Would not buy from again.

all common problems for folks that don't build the kits onto the bike properly

look back in threads 4 or 5 years & you'll see a LOT of broken motor mounts & snapped chains - look at last couple years after folks figured it out & you'll see much less

He chalked it up to poor quality. What did people figure out that would make a difference?

a bit of PVC at back mount gives a good seat & protects the frame - engine will not stretch and neither will the frame, so engine needs to be sitting solid before starting to tighten mounts - one wants the engine tight, not the mount nuts - when engine can not be moved by pulling om it, it's tight enough

My brother wanted me to ask how to test the CCI and the magneto loop set. Can somebody tell me so I can let him know?

for the mag, hook an ohm meter to blue & black, you'll want to see around 350ohms on some, around 480ohms on others

there is no good way to test CDI except try a different one, unless you build a CDI tester which few folks really have a need for - I'm a repair shop for these, so I built one, but I may be the only one who did
