Hello from Scotland UK

I agree on gears but if you just want speed who needsm??? A 41 tooth is perfect for speed, and ride ability.... I don't like pedaling (bicycle, motor... Why should I?) besides you can't pedal a single speed bicyclfe that's going 30mph. What's wrong with a Loud exhaust? Makes people look:D.... Even more since it's a bicycle
Well, the OP of this thread lives in the highlands of Scotland and I in Wales, so we needsm!
It is cold and wet here, and pedalling makes you warm, healthy, strong, sexy and makes you feel happy. :)
Even a 48t X 11t combination can easily pedal at 30mph (30.5mph at only 90rpm with a 26" wheel).
These bikes are illegal on public highways so a system that allows quick tool-free disconnection of the mechanical link between the engine and wheel is a very good thing. ;)

What you mean? Like the clutch when pulled in makes a mechanical disconnection so the motors drive is no longer connected to the back wheel I tried on a cop he didn't like it but it's true.

Lol, that would not fly here. If caught on a public highway, even just a few yards from a motorcycle trail, they would confiscate the bike on the spot, leave you out on the highlands to walk home/ freeze to death and they crush your bike and sell for scrap metal.
The only way to go, as far as I can see is to make it impossible to drive a wheel or start the engine: by removing the right hand jackshaft chain. For this you need the SBP Shift Kit and their right hand side chain tensioner (and no bashguard).

Haha yes here in the UK you would kiss goodbye no matter how much you attempted to prove you're innocence. On top of that a possible 6 points and £250 fine. I'm working on a road legal bike with photos to come though as stated before im not building a bike for speed or performance! I have a motorbike for that.

Oh just picked up a Motobecane earlier imported from France. I also collect vintage bicycles and mopeds

Will post a little photo later
