Two stroke emissions data?

Does anyone have any emmisions tests from two strokes? I read they are better than they used to be but I don't know if that extends down to the cheap models. I am using this to commute so I would like it to not pollute more than using a sedan would. I was thinking about a 4 stroke but I don't know if my wife will be able to for on it with the bulk of those. Rear mounting is an option but cuts storage space, is costly, and makes 4 strokes even uglier than they already are.

What is the best option here. I want to be able to make my commute cheaply without feeling too guilty

a 50cc two stroke that has 4 times the pollution of a 4 stroke will still only pollute 40% the amount that a 500cc 4 stroke car would

not many cars are that small, it's going to be about 10% what a 2 liter engine would (such as in a 4 cylinder honda) or 4% of a 5 liter engine (like a 302 in a mustang)

I don't have any numbers, but the government has made sale of two stroke outboard boat motors illegal for quite a few years now. If you are concerned about air quality, install a 4 stroke mill on your bike.

It could be true that two stroke outboards are illegal in the U.S. It's news to me. In surfing the net to confirm this, I ran across an interesting exception. A Yamaha Jet Ski with a two cycle engine that is sold for competition use only.

My motorbikes run on Opti-2 as a two cycle lubricant. I hear it is popular in hardware stores for their rental two cycle power tools. That is where I buy it; Ace Hardware for $3.99 for a 2.5 gal mix. My opinion is that the engine runs cleaner and cooler. The manufacturers site claims the engine will run cleaner but does not provide details except to say it is environmentally friendly.

If your worried about pollution then why are you putting a motor on a bicycle?

Regular bicycles don't make ANY emissions. And if you want something you dont have to pedal? Buy a Prius, make it baby blue:)
