problems with clutch not engaging not sure very frustrated help!

easy to replace by drilling right through cover from inside, then putting a small machine screw through the hole with a nut inside - a 10-32 screw usually works

Good idea I'd probably use 8-32, happens a 8-32 is nearly universal to as an electrical outlet/lightswitch cover screw. My house has a near endless supply and they are just the right length. The one that keeps the plate up against the wall hiding the innards of the outlet. Certainly you have a missing cover or 2 in the garage or basement or nursery you can pull another to match. Or stop by the hardware store and pick up some plates and screws to fix the electrical hazard (not my first pick but...)

How do they get that pin in there anyhow? Is it cast in? I've never seen one fall out but the way you suggest it sounds like you have.
