engine starts after a few tries and then gets a very high rpm and dies...

hey guys, i got my bike a few days ago and have had a problem with the engine dying. i can start the engine fine the first or second time, but after a few mins of riding the engine gets really loud and sputters out. i am using 4:1 (Seems weird for this first tank but thats what people have told me). then after it dies i normally have to wait a minute or two and the same thing happens. any help?

16:1 is more normal for break-in with 32:1 after that, but it sounds a bit like your head gasket isn't sealing tight

who are the retards that told you to use 1:4 oil to gas ratio?
probably they were just jesting with you to see if you were noobie enough to do it.
1:20 is normal.

like i said, the guy that built it for me put it in. he has been building bikes and motorcycles for years now so idk. should i empty out the tank(how would i do that) and put 20-32:1 in during break in ?

the factory recommends 16:1 for breakin and then 20:1 thereafter.
yes drain the tank.
ps : 1 gallon = 128oz so 1/20th of that is 6.4
