Has anyone ever bought one of these and had a successful install? Does the little white tabs need to remain on the back side of the gen unit? Bike wouldn't start after I installed it. The white tabs on the back broke off .

Did I just waste my money???

Wondered about that one myself. Ended up using an independent rechargeable battery pack. It was cheap, on Ebay. It`s 12 volt for lights, and 5 volt USB for devices. Love it so far, even ride woods trails at night now.
I find the mag coils to be finicky at best, been lucky just keeping one running the bike!
Cheers

Okay thanks NG. I am going to try one more thing and if that doesn't get it then I will consider buying what you have. I have a motorcycle billet headlight on the way and want to be able to power it.

Is it something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-12V-980...863747?hash=item2116f1c383:g:HvcAAOSwnNBXb8WG

Okay so is your's working? Mine is shorting out the magneto for the engine. I am thinking that the white tabs on the back insulate it from the main magneto. I guess hot glue the tabs back on and try again.

That sucks.

I'm going to keep trying to get mine to work. If not, it's rechargeable battery pack time for me.

I just woke up its noon sunday I will be doing a test today to see if it holds what I have or not, my white tabs fell off too but I have them and my motor does run. I have another idea if the Gen cant hold its own weight alone, and no its not battery. I dont see how the white tabs would insulate the gen from the mag when there bolted together just my thought.

Oh yeah I forgot about the bolts. Well I may have gotten a bad gen then. I think I will just go with battery pack for 200 Alex. :D
