Help my bike wont start new engine

Someone help me this is fustrating i just bought a new engine but my bike was left outside and got snow on today i onstalled the new engine it started up and died in the middle of the block a few mins later it started again but ran for 2 blocks. Took of the muffler ot was shooting grey oil. And the spark plug was wet on one side and dry on the other . And its a new spark plug i bought today b6hs ngk. Could it be because the cdi or carb got wet in the the snow ? The gas tank was also on but the engine wasnt . How can i fix this i need my nike up running for work

Did you re use the carb from previous engine and was it set up lean? Did you alter your fuel mix to break in the new one? A grey color in the oil could be excessive water or wear that would have me thinking an aluminum part!

Yeah im using the carb from the previous and no i didnt make a new break it mix i was being cheap since i had 2 gallons pre mox from my old engine and i think its water bcuz i was leaving in my buolding lobby nut tenats complained so i was forced ro lock it outside and it got snowed on and rain on so im guessing water got in the carb and tank

Oh yeah now I see, he said the motor wasn't in the bike so definitely not the mag lol... I ride my bike in the rain but one day while riding I had the engine shut down. Figured it was just nothing since I started it back up pretty easy and got another half a block and then it died and stayed dead.

Later after testing all the things that need testing I found my cdi failed. Funny enough it wasn't long after I moved it to the underside of my down tube and letting it get splashed with lots of water from the front wheel that it ended up dying.

If snow melted and froze up in the CDI deep enough that after warming up on a ride it killed it that would explain it. I can't explain why it worked for a while and stopped for no reason then started again and died, but it happened almost exactly like yours did.

What did you do just replace the cdi ?

I took of the littlw screw on the side of the bowl and let the fuel out then it rode for one block n died again. And when i try to start it it makes like a backfiring/ bogging sound. Im thinking i sud dump the gas let it dry for a day or so and try a fresh mix ?

back fire could also be head gasket loose - or a wire not making good connection

Yes I replaced the CDI and I had it backfire once while trying to restart it when it died that time but forgot about it until just now.

I agree with crass double check the wiring and make sure it's snug.

If it's fuel issue then it shouldn't need drying unless you know you have water in your fuel system, but water doesn't create backfires as far as I know.

The only other time I had a backfire was when my crankshaft arm holding the magnet was damaged, it changed the timing making it pop a few time but no cigar, maybe your magnet is loose in the magneto cover side?
