My bike is almost done! Check it out...

Hey all...I didnt get a chance to post pics of my bike when I first joined this forum but here are a couple of how the bike sits right now. All I need to do now is put on a new chain, put on a new right side cover, gas her up and fire it up!

I love it - especially the position of the tank...

I do have one thought though.

A few years back I was driving down the A12 near home - to see a corvette stingray sat on the side of the road...

I pulled over and asked the guy what was wrong - he said it was a new rebuild and kept cutting out when the engine was hot.. he didnt know why and I could see he was annoyed with it..

The problem was simple - he'd run the fuel line right over the top of a hot engine... fuel vapourisation, gas lock, dead 'vette. It cooled off a little, we started it again and that was the loudest motor I have *ever* heard and off he went :)

My only worry with your engine being so close to the tank is the fuel line getting warm leading to fuel feed problems....

but apart from that a wonderful machine, and I love the whitewalls with the red :)

congrats

Nice clean machine there. Did you modify the top tube? If so, what did you do? Bend it or replace it?

Dan
The top tube originally was an S curve. What I did was cut the S curve in the middle to give me just one bend. then I welded a straight piece to the end of that to give the final contour of the top tube. Later I added the straight tube underneth that one to give the frame some extra support.
Nice bike. Where did you get that carb cover? I haven't seen one like that.

When I bought the motor, the friend that sold it to me gave me the air cleaner. I think he said it was for either a go-ped or a pocket bike. To mount it, I used the original carb cleaner bracket and used automotive silicon to join that with a rubber piece that the air cleaner snaps on to.

Ok. I was wondering if you found someone that sold them like that. Looks cool and probably has great airflow.
