Sigh...got my engine from Dax-But I probably won't be able to use it (B.C. laws)...

DO NOT INSULT THEIR INTELLIGENCE!!!!!

I've considered camouflageing the engine also but the first officer that hears and sees you doing over 50kmh up a hill without pedaling ?? is going to realise you've an engine and is probably not going to enjoy the fact that your trying to"pull one over on him/her.
IMHO, I think by trying to hide the engine, you're making it look worse than it is.
In other words, from someone elses view, It must be illegal!! Why else would he be trying to hide it??!!!??
This is just my opinion mind you.
I do excactly the opposite I put the engine where you couldn't miss it if you wanted to and have for approx. 2 yrs now.
, I've been pullled over numurous times and they appreciate the honesty aswell as the workmanship or so I'd like to think!!lol
I'm in Surrey and have found that If you ride responsibly and aren't making a spectacle of youself, you'll be alright.
Make it obvious that you're completely aware of your surroundings and that you are riding in a safe and mature fashion.
Helmet , lights , reflectors , mirrors, hand signals , etc. all these will go along way towards you recieving a little leniency.
This is just my opinion and this strategy might not work aswell for you as it does for me so do not be overly influenced. see what other fellas are doing to keep on keepin on
good luck

where in B.C. are you??

Bigfoot,
I say build it anyways. Use your imagination to keep it low key. Ive started a new thread in the white zone called "Busted in BC", I hope to generate ideas and interest about concealing these bikes. Im sure it can be done even tho many think its impossible.

If canada laws are that strict, build an electric or buy a moped/scooter; being legal is the way to go. Breakin the law has it's own juju that'll come back atcha, usually hard. Other suggestion is to move south, with us...

It's more a question of "challenge"....people don't like to be told what to do...what to think...what to say.
We all have a bit of the rebel in us and this is just another way of expressing it,legally or illegally.
Our Oz laws are VERY ambiguous about this engines/bicycle combination so my philosophy is "when in doubt test the cops out" :)

PS...IF i get my first warning from the cops i'll start to rethink my whole approach.

Instead of getting a ticket, why don't you write a letter to the traffic court? They would know what's legal, and they have an interest in keeping you out of court.
