Tazers are a terror weapon... many people have died from being tazered by police for no good reason. They even tazer kids nowadays. Cops are dangerous and out of control, be careful.

I found that hiding my gas tank has helped to stay under the radar. I found a nice rack for the rear and put my tank into a small zippered knapsack sort of thing and ran the fuel line down from just under the seat. (The tank is facing backwards) With the fuel shut off facing the motor. Now it's not such a "heatscore". That with pretending to peddle has given me 6 months of troublefree joy!I'm also very fast with the clutch/kill switch...lol

I was tazered twice by som esadistic jerk of an excuse for an officer.... The next morning, when I saw a guard walk by, I asked to be shown a copy of my arrest papers.... The guard went to find the paperwork... Ten min later, they looked me squarely in the eye and opened the cell door saying "You were never here, nothing happened, go, now!".... Yeah, I went all right... I went back home put on a pot of coffee and went to the see the Watch Commander, and hour later.... After I told him my story/showed the burn mark were I'd been "tortured", the guy showeed me to the door, thanked me for coming by, and told me that thier department did not issue tazers to their officers.... I looked at the guy dumbfounded and told him if I ever saw that officer and thought I could get away with it, that I'd take a piece of pipe to him!!! Th cop askeif I was threatening his men... I replied that "No, I was promising................ (moved out of stte asap!!!)

Register legally IMO; it isn't worth trying to fight the bully boys; they have the numbers on their side and will either beat you into submission or worse, tazer you to death and all their mates will back them up... we really don't stand much of a chance against agressive law enforcement officers so, register legally or get a moped!

It's my understanding that in alot of states there are no provisions for registering a 'power-assisted bicycle'.... A moped, or a motorcycle, yes.. If that's the case, then it would seem to come down to a persons responsibility to meet the lighting and reflector requirements as pertains to bicycles and to adhere to the regulatory speed requirements. Is this the way it is????

Yeah thats basically it. Some states have strict laws about these bikes and they end up requiring registration and licensing just like a moped. Most other states have absolutely nothing on the books about these bikes so you just have to follow the rules of the road and have proper safety equipment that any non-powered bicycle would require. Your limited by federal law to an engine under 50cc with a top speed of not more than 20mph. I've searched for hours looking for laws banning or requiring more than federal law here in New Hampshire but have yet to find anything. No problems or pull-overs in the granite state by cops either. Just dont try to ride a pocket bike on the road here as I have found laws banning them. I'm still planning on going down to the local state police barracks/registry with some pictures and technical info to see what both of them think. If possible I'll get docs from them to show the inevitable less-educated big ego cop that my ride is in fact legal. If I did have to register as a moped I wouldnt be totally disappointed. In this state at least moped laws were recently changed to 80cc and 45mph! Might just be worth the $3 a year registration. Alls needed is tail, brake and a nighttime headlight otherwise.

Suggestion: Ride the bike numerous times without a chain. With each pullover by police, you'll quickly become known and afterwards put the chain on and noone will look twice as you faux pedal past them (at a slower speed, of course).

I don't know what the law here is in TX or in my city, but I play it cool and follow the laws. The gas station I ride to, to get my beer, is across the street from the police station. For once in my life I don't feel bad when people point at me and laugh, especialy the cops perched out front of the station.

The problem with pocketbikes and perhaps even motoredbikes, is parents buying them for their kids. Kids have no idea how long it takes a 2000 pound car traveling 30mph to stop, let alone a human body on a bike totally unprotected. Drivers are terrifed not only of killing a kid but being sued by the kid's parents, therfore there are laws to keep those things off the road. When my oldest kid broke her foot we went to the pediatric orthopedic surgeon. While waiting for our visit,there was a girl with both arms broken from riding a plain old scooter, and here are parents buying gas powered scooters and pocketbikes, for kids that have no knowledge of safety. Sadly the laws are made to protect kids because parents won't think.

Oh yeah, there are 2 cops in Dallas who tazered a guy but deny it. They say they didn't even have tazers that shift. The room where they check out equiptment has a log you sign when you take something. Both of their names are on the log and the tazer's ID numbers on that shift. They still got off.

Carry a box of donuts with you. Offer the Police some when you get nabbed. I hear they like the honey glazed ones with sprinkles the best.
I'm sure they will let you go on your way then without a hitch.
