ok ive done some searching but cant find anything other than disc brakes, does anyone know how i would go about mounting a set of brakes on the front of my stingray? im asking cause right now my feet ar the primary source of my stopping power and i wear $80 shoes, cause my feet are size 14 (my age), and i dont have $80 for new shoes, if disc brakes are the only choice for the front of my bike is there a place where i can get them, no re-spoking, and for CHEAP? thanks a million. cause my lenear pull brakes dont seem to be doing the job very well, at least 1/2 of my street to stop, without the help of my feet from 25-30mph (my crusing speed)

hey i just found this, how would i hook it up, or for that matter use it is it cable operated, how would i mount the caliper, thanks for the info, this guy just says what it is not how it works mounted ect thanks guys http://cgi.ebay.com/14cm-Disc-brake...eZWD1VQQtrksidZp1638.m118.l1247QQcmdZViewItem its about the cheapest thing i fund if this is not what i need can somone fine me somthing i can mount for a reasonable price? thanks guys!

consider a nice front drum...easy to fit to almost anything, usually a bit less expensive, & no weather-related problems.

and...you gotta give the group more than an hour to respond to a new topic ;)

yes i know im a little spoiled when it comes to responses :) im used to quick responses, and an hr seems like a day, when i am home with nothing to do lol

the dynamo hubs are being reviewed in various places as not worth the added expense, apparently they only put out during certain short periods and not very much at that. but, that's only me repeating what i've heard, not what i know for fact.

try searching the web for a complete front-drum wheel...i've seen them for around $80 complete. also, if you're serious, i bet the Wheelmaster guy can hook you up, people seem quite pleased with his work.

wheel master guy? when my dad gets home im taking a blow torch to that lock in hopes of melting some ice so if i dont reply thats why guys. my dad used to work in a bike shop, when he was my age thats why i get soooo much help from hiim, but i think i might have trouble convincing him ro re-spoke my wheel lol 1 other problem, if you look at the pics of the bike or the walkaround i did on my u-tubepage, there is like a 3 inch ring thing attached to the axle, and the spokes hook to that, i thought id just say that, thats why i was looking for som bolt on discs.

At least you asked before you spent. I bought a set of Hayes M1 disc brakes, the whole setup for $50. I did not know you needed special hubs and forks to mount the calipers and discs. I do now. PM me if interested. I'm looking into drums now.
Keep us posted and let us know what you find.
