happycheapskate Mar 11, 2010 Thats cool. Did you have to hollow out the clamp bands for the clutch lever? Try replacing the brake pad blocks with modern V-brake pads. I did this on my caliper brake and got a huge increase in braking power and clearer feedback through the lever.

INTP_ty Apr 11, 2018 A 700c swap would allow for the use of wider tires if there is room in your frame. The largest 27” tire I found are the Specialized Roadsport 1 1/4” ~32mm I’m running that same tire, but the 700c model 35mm Shoot for 4-5 mm spacing minimum. Any closer >3mm & you’ll get tire rub
