EV Global Mini Ebike yard sale find and repair

Found these at a yard sale cheap.

I got them both working for cheap and they are a blast to ride.

They say Lee Iacocca on them and he was in charge of the company that made them until they went out of business in 2004.

I think it had something to do with this.

36V NiMH battery packs.

One pack was apart and someone had taken 2 batteries out and they measured 0 volts.

I soldered them back in and plugged in the charger.

The charger has a charge LED indicator and it was flashing and no charge current.

The other battery pack was together but it would not charge either.

I had got 2 very nice chargers in the deal and they both had blinking LEDs and no charge.

Going to the packs is a 4 pin connector from the charger.

Only 3 are used. DC+ , ground, temp sensor.

On both packs the temp sensor was bad and prevented the batteries from charging.

I connected a 10k ohm resistor from the sensor pin connector to the negative or ground pin.

The charger charges them at 1.6A then goes to a 60 ma trickle charge

They both work and will power the bike for 10 miles +.

I did not expect those old batteries to work but they do !

Looks like you have all the body work on them too. Quite a find.

Yeah, I thought it would rattle but it doesn't.

I am mounting a milk crate on the back of mine.

The other one belongs to my wife. She loves it.

Every woman I have shown it to asked to buy it !

battery charger question

Hello. I also got one of this e bike today on yellow. It folds in half and it is very nice.
Only problem is that did not come with a charger. Any idea where i can purchase one? thank you very much.
