Engine degreaser on a magneto

Hi, I'm as new as new can be so this might be a newb question... Just wondering if I can spray engine degreaser on a magneto? I'm currently cleaning my engine/sprockets etc a was wondering if I cant spray inside the magneto cover with degeaser without damaging the magneto. I will take out the coil but didn't really want to remove the magneto. Thanks

I doubt it will do any harm

if there is any oil there to clean off then the seal needs to be replaced (because it is leaking) and so you will have to remove the magneto anyway

the inside of that cover should always stay clean unless there is a problem somewhere (note that the mag coil often looks brown due to a diff type of varnish used on some of them)
