Old-School Schwinn Cruisers

Ok,

I just bought a nice, old-school ('60s), Schwinn cruiser. The frame is nice and solid, and the tires have very strong looking steel spokes. I can't find my calipers to measure diameter, but they're clearly thick.

Should I replace my rear wheel? Or should I use this relatively old wheel with thick spokes?

thank you!

I found that the spokes on my 73 Suburban were thick, but brittle. I'd replace the wheel if it was me.
