A good rear rack mod

Here's something simple and cheap for anyone who can use it; an improvement on the standard bicycle rear rack.



The standard rack has the addition of a new platform made of steel. You can just see it in this photo. It's painted blue. The wooden platform is bolted to that. A coat of varnish and it's weatherproof.



I come out, slap the duffel on board, loop the lashing straps around and tighten. It'll hold a big load with no tendency to droop or roll over into the wheel. A nice solid platform.

Cool. I made something similar that allowed me to haul a pizza on my cargo rack. It was made from PVC so it didn't look as good as your rack mod.

Now I know what to do with all my 1"x 2" scraps.
