Another lesson at the School of Hard Knocks

  1. I found another little bothersome assembly problem with the compression release lever. The arm that controls the lift of the spring is just press fit onto the lever. When you change a WC1 head to the Early or new NE5 it changes the direction of the pull enough to seperate this press fit. I repaired it on both my conversions.

The fix is not only to remount the cable in such a way that it pulls straight, but spot weld that pressed connection together. Otherwise it will come loose on the road & you will lose it.

I would do this to a stock bike too.
