have you adjusted the turn screw on the carb yet if not turn it to the rite to idle it up just enough till it sits ther just running kinda strong not to fast though you'll know when to stop you want a steady idle but not real fast you'll get it and if that doesnt work try different plug in it and reset idle again

Check for leaks in the intake. Rite where the carb meets the intake is a known spot for leaks also. Some gas resistant sealant is good for the latter and a good gasket for the intake should help if its a leak. Leaks make the idle go all over the place. Hope this helps.
