Can this be done easily? Like to buy an economical disc brake and install on my beach cruiser on the front wheel.

    in a few words ...yes

first you need to find out the type of fork you have ,,that is is it threaded or threadless .
    next the dia of fork 1 inch 1 1/8 , 1 1/4 inch
last is a fork with a disk fitting ..

disc brake on the front of any bike

The best price I could come up with for a disc brake on the front wheel was around $120,you need forks with the mounting bracket,a wheel with the disc mount and the disc and the caliper.

not to butt in, but i have a rockshox judy 2 boxed up ready to ship that is disk brake compatible...

it is a threadless fork with a 1 1/8 dia.

but apart from the fork you would also need to get a new wheel or respoke the wheel with a hub which is disk brake capable and then you would have to buy the actual brake and disk as well.....

    give you an idea...

so it can be done easily enough, but some of the parts are not cheap, but remember it is your own neck you are going to save here.
