Clutch for Robin EC-04 40cc engine

Does any one know where a person can get a fiber clutch for this motor? The original clutch is 78mm and is made of metal including the part that contacts the drum. It is a very strong clutch but is either on or off. I need a clutch that slips gradually until it is engaged fully. The Robin engine is the best example of two stroke tech. I have seen yet and it just screams on my Gary Fisher Joshua xo but due to the grabby clutch it has a tendency to wear out my drive belt on my gebe setup. This engine was designed to do commercial work and it is used on rental tools due to the ruggedness of the construction. The motor has a 11mm output shaft that is keyed and slightly tapered. Any help appreciated.

Before doing my GEBE setup, I bought an EC04 too. It's sitting next to me right this moment. From what I can ascertain (after many hours looking online), it's not meant to use a clutch -- rather, it's for clutchless applications such as generators and water pumps.

You never know, though...

Cheers,
Wolfe.

Thanks for the info. I will give it a try. It is just to good an engine to give up on it

There are apparently two versions of this engine. Mine does have a clutch on it right now but it is a comercial unit and too harsh for my use. Thanks for the reply. Vern
