I am not really sure if this is where this topic goes, we'll see- I've been trying to order the pinapple sprocket mount from Spooky Tooth Bikes but I find NOWHERE to "Purchase this item" even after I registered with their nsite and logged on! Bit odd... have an online sales catalogue without purchasing capacity... and no phone number as well.
Are they down for the Winter? I thought they weren't allowed to have Winter in Arizona

I have tried to contact them because I would like to use the HD wheel they sold.
Is there another source for a laced up rim with two sprockets and a brake?

I got an email from Roland on Jan 14th . The email said they would be closed for a few weeks. I emailed them after 3 weeks and did not get a reply.

Well... THAT would explain a few things... hmmm... does anybody else sell the pinapple sprocket mount, or was that strictly a spookytooth item?

My point was not meant to be derogative to anyone who thinks or knows Spooky Tooth is out of business, but the fact that if they are, the mods here should know/find out and remove them as a sponsor if they are indeed out of business.

Not out of business. Under new ownership. Looks like it's taking a bit to get going again but things often don't happen as smoothly as we would like. Might be a problem setting up PayPal or something like that. Maybe they are still sorting inventory.

Chill out and don't let your imaginations run too wild. I'm broke until the first of the month anyway ;) so I'm in no hurry for parts.

Besides, there is a new posting for the April Death Race that's been sponsored by spookytooth.

Oh, I remember seeing something about another place the clamshell can be found but I cant find it :p

    spooky tooth and parts

I think most of the problem is that nobody has any parts too sell. All the parts are sitting in containers in china somewhere. They keep telling me another couple of weeks. This has been going on for months now over just a few parts. What ever the problem is I sure would like to get my new 4 stroker done before riding season. :helmet:

Hey Sarge, Spookytooth sent me an e-mail saying they are now open for business. And as luck would have it, the only part I need from them is OUT OF STOCK. They have a coaster brake extension arm that would solve a lot of problems for me on my Jesse James build. I guess the new owners are still trying to get it all together. If anyone knows another vender that carries this PLEASE let me know. Otherwise I'm gonna make it myself. (Or try to anyway)

  13. After Roland decided to give it up, he had no idea whether anyone else would be interested in it of not. Turns out somebody was, but I don't expect them to be the kind of enthusiast Roland was. I notice they are still using his old site with almost no changes. When I got that email that they were open again, I was hoping they might branch out a bit from the Chinese stuff, and start offering some other options, especially rear mount friction/belt/chain drive stuff. And they yet may. To early to tell. Looks like they basically bought Roland's inventory and site, and are going on with things exactly the way they were. Roland was harassed out of Tucson by the cops, and had moved to Benson. I have no idea where the new owner/s are.

Wait- I thought that the state was MB friendly- how or why were the Cops ragging on him?

Big Red- you can increase the dogleg bend of the existing brake lever and solve the problem. I do it cold in a vise with a ball-peen hammer. ALSO- if you are having difficulties with the opening of the sprocket, mail it to me and I'll do it on my lath- no charge. I'll send it back with the hubmounts...

  16. HB 2796 STATUTE 28-2516 makes motorized bicycles legal in AZ, but they are not accepted everywhere. Roland had a big part in getting this law passed, and he certainly has my appreciation for that. He even proved that the 2 stroke HT engines could pass the motorcycle emissions tests. Most of the cops knew they were legal, but still hated them, so they would harass anyone they found riding one, apparently because of their own personal feelings about them. Tucson is a university city, and there are a lot of students riding bikes. Apparently many of the MB riders were also causing some problems, like riding over 20 mph, riding on sidewalks and bike paths, and on university property where motorized vehicles were not allowed. MBs are also supposed to yield the right of way to pedal bikes in bike lanes. Anyway, the cops knew where many of these MBs were coming from, and basically drove Spooky Tooth out of town. Roland remained in business for a few more years, in another town about 100 miles away.

As far as I can tell, most of the rest of the state does not have that problem, as long as MB riders follow the law. I intend to keep a copy of the law with me at all times while riding, and make sure I follow it. I would still think twice before riding in Tucson.

    Coaster Brake

Thanks Sarge. If I can't extend the arm mount then the next thing is to open the sprocket for more room. I have cutting tools that will do the job, Just more work than I wanted to do. I've already got four customer bikes waiting to be fixed and the water pump just fubard on my car. Just looking for the time to do it all. And, Of course, EVERYONE thinks THEY come first before my other customers, Couse they're my FRIEND. Thats my fault though, I try to treat all my customers like family, Keeps them coming back.
No BIG hurry on the hub, I wont be able to get to MY build till after Chrismas anyway. So many bikes in my shop now I don't want to put the Cranbrook in it to get all scratched up. No room in the bedroom so it's resting in my kitchen for now.
    Big Red.
