It's against the LAW. As always, ignorance is no defense.

    So listen up...

First off, I think HOON might also be someones last name? Korean, or oddly enough, Dutch (de Hoon). Sorry. Blame the Aussies.

I had never heard this word before and it applies to cars and driving, and, I suppose, those wicked wicked motor-cyclists.

The word has been expropriated - or imported rather - defined as follows (wikipedia) and is being used as a legal term in "anti-Hoon laws".

Hoon is a derogatory term used in Australia and New Zealand to refer to a person who engages in loutish, anti-social behaviour. In particular, it is used to refer to one who drives in a manner which is anti-social by the standards of contemporary society, that is, fast, noisily or dangerously. Hoon activities can include speeding, street racing, burnouts, doughnuts or screeching brakes.[1] Those commonly identified as being involved in "hooning" or street racing are young, predominantly male drivers in the age range of 16 and 25 years.[2]

END TRANSMISSION - Please return to your Hooning activities - ya buncha Hooners... LOL

    Anti-Hoon Advertising

    Hey All Hoon Poets,

I have two bits of info to add to this.

    One about the Anti-Hoon Laws,
each state has their own in Australia.

    Here's a link

One about the Advertising in Australia, against Hooning.
Which relied heavily on sexy females, saying you had a small middle
digit if you were hooning, which made sense as most hoons are male.
    See attached image.

If you want to watch the whole ad, run by the NSW government.
Click this link and download it.

Today on the way to work:
I saw one guy booked for speeding by a cop on a MotorBike, :helmet:
and the end result of a bad move on the road, where the whole car was trashed against a metal pylon.

Hooning does kill after all.

I'm sitting here trying to remember if I was a hoon when I was younger and I realized that I can't remember the whole decade of the 70's.... I wonder if I had fun.
