Asked this question in the Cabe forums but thought I should as here as well.

I have chrome, drop center rims in good shape that I plan on using on my Whizzer (I weigh 190lbs) The rear has ten g spokes and the front 12g.

I local bike guy thought these would not be strong enough and suggested I go for an S2 type rim.

What do you all think?

Thanks.... Wayne

I think the local bike guy is trying to sell you a set of S2 rims. Inasmuch as drop center rims were the most common type back in the day when a great many Whizzers were put together by mounting the engine kit on an existing bike (what a novel idea!), I would think that they would be more than adequate. A great many Whizzers (that did not have Schwinn frames) would have had drop center rims.
The only concern I would have is if the rims weren't for a balloon tire, but for a narrower tire.

That's what I thought

Kilroy,

The rims are in very good shape with only some surface rust and one small dent that looks like it came from banging a curb. I think that can be taken out.

I have 10g and 12g spokes so that should be plenty.

thanks for the input.

Wayne
