I've been using the NGK B5HS plug but might need to go a little hotter. Thought about trying the E3 plugs but after contact with E3 (not the easiest thing to do) they say they don't have one that crosses over. Anyone tried the E3's and what are they equivalent to?

A little hotter than a B5HS
Crikey, i am running an NGK BP8HS and that's working out terifically well, not to mention that it's a heck of a lot colder plug than a B5HS.

Maybe you need to look at your air/fuel mixture before thinking about requiring a hotter plug.

without a head temperature gauge I wouldn't recommend using hot plugs.
You could be running way too hot and not even know it.
So unless you buy a gauge, take Fabians advice and run a cold plug, even if it seems to run worse.
