    Hey All,

I just thought I'd try to start a neat thread of good "Cycle Quotes." I guess it's pretty open to interpretation on what this means, but I think it'd be neat to gather MBer's favorite quotes/lyrics/etc. regarding cycles, including bicycles, MBs and motorcycles...

My idea started with the Robert Pirsig quote in my signature box, but I thought others might have some cool quotes, too. Here's a silly one from a song my dad used to sing when we were fishing:

    "I don't want a pickle,
I just wanna ride my motorcycle
    And I.....don't wanna die,
I just wanna ride on my motorcy.....cle."

So, come on MBers and bring out your cycle quotes and lyrics! I'm sure I can add a couple more, myself...

That was the first lyric that popped into my head when I saw the thread title. "The Pickle song" by Arlo Guthrie. He still sings it in concert, with updates and social commentary. I think (some forty year old memories are kinda fuzzy) that it was included in the "Alice's Restaurant Massacree", but I would have to dig out my old vinyl record to be sure! I think I just dated myself.....

Ok you old codgers. Here's one as old as Guthrie's messterpiece.

    Anyone remember this ?

    Motorcycle Mama

Tell your Daddy and your Mama too. You got something better to do.
Stick around the house the rest of your life. Your eighteen you can
do what you like. You'll be the queen of my highway, my motorcycle mama.
We'll see the world through my Harley.

We'll get matching jackets and helmets too. We'll get respect from
the towns we ride through. We'll sleep at the roadside in the soft
green grass and if the squares walk by we'll let them pass. You'll
be the queen of my highway, my motorcycle mama. We'll see the world
    through my Harley.

And maybe in a year or two, we'll have a little one, she'll look just
like you. We'll add on a sidecar, electric guitar. We'll be a trio,
    the baby makes three, oh.

Tell your Daddy and your Mama too. You got something better to do.
Stick around the house the rest of your life. Your eighteen you can
be my wife. You'll be the queen of my highway, my motorcycle mama.
We'll see the world through my Harley. We'll see the world through
my Harley. We'll see the world through my Harley if the chain don't break!

    Neil Young's Motorcycle Mama

    Motorcycle mama
Won't you lay your big spike down
    Motorcycle mama
Won't you lay your big spike down
I always get in trouble when you bring it round
    Motorcycle mama
    Won't you lay it down.

    I'm runnin', I'm runnin', I'm runnin'
    Down the proud highway
    Yeah, I'm runnin', I'm runnin', I'm runnin'
    Down the proud highway
And as long as I keep movin'
    I won't need a place to stay.

    Motorcycle mama
Won't you lay your big spike down
    Motorcycle mama
Won't you lay your big spike down
I always get in trouble when you bring that round
    Motorcycle mama
    Won't you lay it down.

    Well I'm here to deliver
I hope you can read my mail
    I just escaped last night
    From the memory county jail
I see your box is open
    And you flag is up
    My message is ready
    If there's time enough.

    Motorcycle mama
Won't you lay your big spike down
    Motorcycle mama
Won't you lay your big spike down
I always get in trouble when you bring it round
    Motorcycle mama
    Won't you lay it down.

Alice's Restaraunt - my word, I haven't thought of that movie in decades. Lots of good music in that soundtrack, and the "Pickle Song" was one of them, I do believe.

    MY MOTOREDBIKE

    Fourteen. My bicycle.
    My love. My Joy.
    Me and my bicycle.
    My bicycle takes me everywhere.
    That big hill.
I have to walk my bicycle up that hill.
But after a while I find
That if I zig zag up that hill
    I can make it.
    I love my bike.

    Forty. My motoredbike.
    My love. My Joy.
    Me and my motoredbike.
    My motoredbike takes me everywhere.
    That big hill.
I have to walk my motoredbike up that hill.
But after a while I find
That if I pedal with the engine
    I can make it.
    I love my bike.

Been a long time since I've even thought about Arlo Guthrie's "pickle song".

Didnt' that also go into a spoken word/story-type segment about the police questioning him about a pile of garbage on the road?

"I won't lie to you officer. I put that envelope with my name on it underneath that pile of garbage."
