So how many of you guys are planning on lighting up the skies tomorrow?

I bought a couple of ground display assortments and various little junk (firecrackers, jumping jacks, ground bloomers) at a fireworks tent sale.

No tea party protest near me. The last one was less than 10 minutes away.

Here's an idea for a sign:

You can buy a T-shirt too.

I don't understand why our nanny govt here in NJ makes class C fireworks illegal. All it does is drive revenue to other states that allow fireworks sales. Every Independence day, all you hear are firecrackers, rockets, etc. - even though fireworks have been illegal here for years. The cops don't give a cr@p, and will only do something if a crabby neighbor calls and complains that you are scaring her 20 cats. I got mine in Pennsylvania - where their laws are totally bass-ackwards. PA residents can only buy sparklers and other lame stuff, but non-residents can buy everything else. I had to buy the stuff for my friends that live in PA! You gotta love govt, eh?

Let's all have a fun and safe independence day, and first and foremost remember why we declared our independence in the first place. (As we drive across state lines to purchase fireworks, carefully looking for "click it or ticket" patrols - or the new "obey the signs or pay the fines" speed traps.)

My Father some 20 years back decided to take a trip to PA and treat the nieghborhood to a display here in NY. Being the typical Auto-Worker (playin Joe Cool) he had to get the biggest ariel display box they had.

Hidding the box between the houses to avoid the Noid (Buffalo is very residential), about 10 big rockets into the display w/all the nieghbors peering from thier yards and poarches, a rocket hit a tree branch and you guessed it! It turnned right arround and landed right in the big box!!!

The 3'x3'x3' box now going completely bannanas was focus of three garden hoses from us and our nieghbors... The smoke light and screaming was something I'll never forget!!! We couldn't get the darn thing out until seemingly every one in the box went! The asphalt driveway underneath started on fire!

Ten minutes after the Happy Swallow rocket touched down the fire was out and the revenue writters showed up!!! I was only in my early teens and was ammazed at how organized the party was. Despite the whole block being thourghly (still) smoked out the Cop looked over the hole in the ground (still steaming) and asked what the flip happened here? The nieghbor next to us (winding his hose replied nothing Sir, we were all enjoying the 4th when something landed here?

No tickets, nobody was hurt, except maybe the cops pride and life went on. Guess who got stuck washing the sides of the houses! So much for the UAW Guy's being against child labor!

Have a happy Fourth (now Dependence Day)!

"You can make anything better by adding an internal combustion engine!"
Except a box of fireworks! All the nieghbors have since moved but I bet they still remember!
