Flywheel Boost

    It is a good idea. I doubt it will catch on though.

    its complicated and adds extra weight. thats from my opinion. and if you engage the flywheel into the drive train when its moving too slow, you will slow down...

    its a cool idea though. ill stick to an engine!

    There have been buses that use a flywheel to drive from stop to stop. At each bus stop there is an overhead electrical contact. This allows an electric motor to spin the flywheel up for the next 2 block run.

    Maybe it's good for casual riders, and might spawn other achievements, but a human only makes around 1/4 horsepower, right (except maybe Lance and his 1hp Tour de France legs) ?

    This thing looks interesting, but 15lb seems like a lot! Perhaps it will catch on as a popular city bike phenomenon (where there are traffic lights everywhere). I wonder if this could be combined with an electric bike (e bikes are pigs!) then weight won't be such a priority.
