  1. I've been lurking here for some time and in about a month am planning on getting that 80cc Chineese motor for my Schwinn.

I think your site is awesome and I am so stoked about getting this kit,and I'm already a step ahead for I think I've already read most everything here and you guys seem very cool.

I think my only real obstacle is the fact that that front down tube on that bike is pretty thick, but I think with longer hardware it shouldn't pose much of a problem.

I'm 41 years old, married 20 years next month and own 5 cars and have tinkered with motorcycles in the past and don't currently own one.
So why the interest? I'm recently recovering from a quintuple bypass operation which saved my life for I quit all my bad habits. I don't smoke no more,I lost almost 40 pounds and I ride my bike every night when it's cool out.

I've always wanted to own a motorized bicycle. Then when I discovered this relatively cheap price on a high displacement one that can get you past 30 mph,I just can't contain myself.

This is mid life crisis. It has to be.

  2. I'm not allowed to post any pics yet. I'll get the pic up when they will.

I do have one really stupid question for I never owned anything that's a two stroke.
This whole mixing oil with gas thing. Are they talking about straight engine oil or is it a special blend two stroke oil made for mixing into gas?

Welcome to MBc 8) . nice intro. glad you're here. Say 'hi' to Fort Collins for me :p .
Normally, we dont answer tech/mech questions in the intro lobby (lots of info gets lost here), so may i suggest you take a peek at the 'Stickys' at the tops of the forum lobbys...they'll point you in the right direction to find answers to just about anything. 8) 8)
    Happy
PS-congrats on the healthy lifestyle changes...tobacco is still a major hurdle for me
PPS-dont tell anyone i told you, but yes...two-stroke oil to mix w/gas
  4. Cool! I can post pics now!

What do y'all think? Would it be not too hard?

  5. Welcome, nice cruiser

    welcome to the group!
  9. Looking at all these other bikes I would say I may have to bring it up a little higher. Probably relocate the carb..maybe it may fit.
That front downtube is thick but it's oval instead of round. The clamp may actually work with just longer bolts.

I like the way this Schwinn has that rear wheel. Looks like I can move that wheel around some;hopefully chain fitment won't be a hassle.

It's an aluminum frame so it's pretty light.

I am a little afraid of scratching up my paint, and that tensioner to me looks pretty fugly.

I may go with a cheaper bike for a first build.

    Thanks for the kind words!

hi and welcome to the cruiser and cool color too! Good luck on your install, start a thread in picture gallery and there you can show us your build if ya like...happy motoring!

  11. Oh you bet!

I can't wait till I get enough money.

My wife already gave me the o.k!

    (That's important,you know.)

I don't think I've felt this way since I was 15 going on 16 waiting to get behind the wheel of a car.

    The anticipation is killing me!

    Life is grand.

the schwinn you have is called "The Ruler" l have seen these at costco and was interested in purchasing but l did the measurements and the engine would not fit without modification. also l like the orange paint and black pinstripping on the bike, the springer front end is awsome . looks way kewl. anyways good luck with your project and welcome to the MBc..............

    Nice bike

Ya, I do not know man that bike is cool, but I am having some serious concerns for you squeezing an engine in there. It might not fit. I would be afraid of the level of modifications that would have to be made. What about an engine on the back?

here are some of the rack mount bikes, if your interested have a look at
rack mount post, good luck
  15. Yup. I bought it at Costco.
I wanted that chineese engine due to the may actually be a relief that it won't fit for this bike is so smooth and pedals real easy.
I'm gonna find another bike....I'm bummed for I wanted that on that springer, man!
That rear mount to me looks too added on. I was gonna paint that engine black to match the rims and was gonna make it look almost stock.
The physical motor is too large, huh. Even the 48cc?

Time to scope out the garage sales!

I'm gonna get that engine anyway...imagine if I can make it work.
    I like a challenge.
    It would rule!

    Hey LF-

After you get up and running, you could tie a pink bow around the Costco bike, add a rack mount (painting the cover yellow) and make it a gift to the wife !! 8)

    Hey! That bike is retro!
    I'm straight styling,man.

    Make it fit

I do not know about trying to fit that in there. Probably way to much trouble for what it is worth. It would look cool though. What about one of those russian engines on e-bay are they smaller? The one on the back does look added on. Even if you did paint it yellow. See if the russian engine is smaller. Good luck if you try to squeeze it in there.
  19. It's that oval downtube. Checking it side by side against bikes in this forum and that oval downtube goes up and out from the bottom instead of out and up,if that makes any sense.
Well,I can always look for another cruiser frame and paint it orange (yea. That's right. Retro.) or leave my beloved alone and find a mountain bike. Craiglists has them for 30 bucks.
Then maybe getting the chain lined up would be easier for the pedal chain would have give for it's under tension.
Then again,I do have this trike laying around the house.

I really should cut my lawn today....nawww. :D

Now how to get a large gear in there...
