The other day I ordered my gt5SR. It should arrive tomorrow. In case anybody is interested ,as soon as it arrives I will be tearing it apart. The reason being is to separate the facts from myths on the engine. Lets see what is really inside. I just love to take things apart. Anyway if there is interest then I can take pics and post them, thanks for reading

You betcha there's interest! Please please share with us what you find with pics and narratives. Would love to know if displacement is bigger and if compression is higher than regular slant head engine.

Good luck and have fun!

Finally they delivered it, been anxious all day. For sure I will take it apart tomorrow. I also have to figure out how to post pics. I'm sure it would be as easy as an attachment, I hope. One thing I did notice after first opening is that the outside casting is actually pretty good. This is compared to my other 4 that I have. Planning on tearing one of my other ones apart in order to make a direct comparison.

would like to also add, that I appreciate the enthusiasm that is shown here, thanks

yes, anything you would like to post i would love to see. as i was thinking of ordering another engine (for my 2nd build) and i was kinda leaning toward the super rat. but i would like to know if there is much different with it. looking forward to seeing what you find out!

this is the measurement most people want to know. The SR is a total length of 7 inches. That is 1/2 more then the regular cdi motor.

some people here were asking this..yes the cdi cover is vented

this is the information tag, notice it shows timing advance

take notice this shows what factory the motor is from

old style intake on lower ..sr upper. old 16.3mm-SR 13.8mm. Unpleasant surprise, but see next pic

Now this tells another story, intake on the engine side..old style- 15mm SR-19.6..this may induce a ramming effect?doubt it, maybe if mounted backwards. just a comment

upon removal of head, was very surprised and pleased with the combustion chamber. Bad pic of squish but does show threads of sparkplug that should be smoothed out. Next pic shows much better

as can been seen here, old head compared to new SR one. Its a very big improvement, I will cc both of them tomorrow.

be very careful on head gasket, Deck height is only negative .006

that's it for tonight guys, some notes though. Casting is fairly good, Note it does now have a steel sleeve as some venders may have you believe. Will be back to post once I measure the ports, exhaust, intake and transfer.

Thanks for reading and see you tomorrow
