When I was done grieving over the loss of my civic I decided to hit the high MPG route and build a bike. Let me tell you it is LIBERATING! I'm so glad I don't have to take the bus anymore. It's almost cheaper too. However I am looking to install a shift kit but I know nothing about them. I have a bike with the slowest shifting in the world. Does a shiftkit have it's own gearbox or does it attach to the bikes gears? If someone could direct me to a thread thy explains everything that would be awesome :)

Welcome to MBc, Red. Now that you have introduced yourself, be sure to read all you can, including the 'Stickies' at the top of every Forum. They contain a lot of information. For example, ‘Sticky’ by Al.Fisherman has 20 or so links to “How To…” threads, and important pages for you to follow. ‘Sticky’ by Anton "Forum Rules and Infractions” is a must read about how you are expected to Conduct yourself. However, read all of them, and be sure to use the search feature. Almost every question you might have has already been asked and answered someplace here. If you are still stumped with a certain problem, post your question in the proper Forum and I am sure you will get an answer.

Right now, tho, I think that hitting the search functions. I know that Sick Bike Parts (SBP) seems to be a good source, as well as several other of our sponsors. Good Luck to you.

I've got a Staton Inc shift kit on my auto shift bike. It works great. I've got three drives to select from on the front and the rear seven gears shift automatically.
